Description

This session will explore the role of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disease, with emphasis on selecting the most appropriate agent for individual patients.

Objectives

Compare the mechanisms of action, indications, efficacy, and safety profiles of available DOACs. Select an appropriate DOAC based on patient characteristics, renal function, comorbidities, and thromboembolic risk. Evaluate anticoagulation options in complex clinical scenarios, including cancer-associated thrombosis, renal impairment, and high bleeding risk.
